Inspirational Londoners by Sue Kemp

Inspirational Londoners by Sue Kemp

A new art exhibition celebrates some of London’s most inspiring figures. Five students from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design were commissioned by the student accommodation provider Unite to exhibit their artwork in Unite’s new student accommodation in London’s vibrant East End.

The exhibition will feature an eclectic selection of Londoners, past and present – from the architect behind the Gherkin, Sir Norman Foster, to Phyllis Pearlsall who created London’s first A to Z street map by painstakingly walking every street until she had mapped them all!

Sue Kemp, a fine art student at CSM, chose to celebrate all Londoners in her painting (pictured), creating a collage of everyday, ordinary people who through creativity, self-belief and hard work have achieved amazing things.

The £25 million eco-friendly accommodation will offer 435 rooms and views of London’s famous football stadium.

The landmark building will be designed to the highest architectural standards. A wealth of facilities will also be built including a launderette, student gardens and extensive bicycle parking.

When completed in 2011, the building will join a growing number of contemporary student housing projects in London which include Nido’s King Cross towers. Nido residents have access to free wireless internet, 24/7 security and a variety of social events.
